I named Sweet Hope Studio after my beloved lab Hope. Everyone called her Sweet Hope. She was the most amazing dog I’ve ever loved or known. At first I just wanted to honor her by naming my Etsy shop and blog after her but over time it has morphed into something bigger.
My husband retires from the Navy in the fall of this year (2018) and we plan to stick around San Diego for a few years. At that point we are going to sell our belongings and head to TX for a fresh start. Let retirement begin! Our goal is to buy 30-50 acres, build our dream tiny (ish) house, raise our son and never move again.
My New Sweet Hope Project
A few weeks ago it hit me that I could do something for the community with that land and really honor Sweet Hope. I want to create a dog rescue to help dogs in Texas that face being euthanized and find homes for them. It is not the policy of organizations like the SPCA to euthanize due to lack of space. But the harsh reality is that they don’t have room for every dog. In an effort to help, we are going to create a space to house and take care of these dogs until we can find homes for them.
This dream is very new and it will mean a lot of work and research (thank goodness I have a few years before we move!). But I will dedicate myself to it and will make it happen. Sweet Hope would be happy.
