I’m about a month late with this post. I started it. Then life happened. But it is such a yummy and easy birthday cake I must finish! So back up a month to the beginning of September…..
My husband is traveling this week over his birthday so my son and I decided to do an impromptu birthday celebration on Sunday before he left. I needed a quick and easy last minute birthday cake solution.
(And let me just say this cake couldn’t be easier. Or yummier. Or lighter!)
Easy Birthday Cake – 5 Minutes!
Of course I could’ve picked up a ready to go birthday cake at Publix but I wanted something semi-homemade (since birthdays are a special thing even at 43). I decided to use an angel food cake made at Publix and spruce it up a bit.
And all you need for the “spruce” is cool whip and your favorite hard candy bar. I chose Butterfinger. Because it’s the best. 🙂 Easiest way to make the icing is to smash your candy bar in the wrapper. Then dump it in the cool whip and gently fold it in.
Several blogs had this cake on Pinterest. And all of them made it look Really easy to get the “icing” to look great and stay in place. I will tell you that I had to spread very fast. And we had to eat it fast. The icing was running for the hills at a rapid pace. Nevertheless, it was Amazing and so delicious! Who cares about perfect icing right?!
Try it at your next birthday celebration. You may just be hooked.
looks wonderful, bet it tastes even better.
