I took my son to a community Halloween party today at Liberty Station in San Diego. We listened to the bands, saw awesome Hollywood themed vehicles from Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Herbie, the Kit car and more, and visited the pumpkin patch. If you live in the area see my post from our visit to Bates Nut Farm pumpkin patch – it’s a must see for our family! We also went from venue to venue trick-or-treating and most passed out candy but a few were pretty creative. For example, the comic store handed out Donald Duck Halloween comic books. My sons face lit up to get something different. Which made me start thinking about Halloween candy alternatives.

Nothing better than this for a kid dressed as a ghost!
This is not a new topic but a lot of Halloween candy alternatives suggestions would not be a hit in our neighborhood. So I decided to take some time today to come up with a decent list that kids will like, that won’t break the bank and are easy to get. This year I am going with a ball theme. We are handing out bouncy balls and small packs of Halloween decorated cheese balls. Note: At the time of this posting, this is a terrible price for the cheese balls – Target has them much cheaper. A healthier but more labor intensive alternative would be to get clementines and draw jack-o-lanterns on them.
I’m sure I don’t need to tell you this but most of the links below are Amazon Affiliate links. Gotta support the blog!
