I thought I’d share with you what I made for the Superbowl tonight. I gotta tell ya. This first recipe is THE EASIEST and THE YUMMIEST dip ever. I first tasted this Sausage Cream Cheese Dip in college in the mid-90s and have probably eaten it at 100 parties since then. 3 Ingredients. That’s it.
It couldn’t be easier. Since we are living in TN now I had to go with Odom’s Tennessee Pride Country Sausage. But any breakfast sausage will do. Normally I’d go for Jimmy Dean’s but the TN Pride did not disappoint.
Rotel and cream cheese are your next 2 ingredients. You can go for the spicy Rotel if you want a little more kick. I get full-fat cream cheese because from my experience it is creamier than lower-fat cream cheese.
Sausage Cream Cheese Dip
First step to make the Sausage Cream Cheese Dip is to brown the sausage. Make sure the sausage is cooked through and there is no pink. Pour off excess fat if there is a lot of it. I only had a small amount so I didn’t bother.
Side note: That black thing in the picture is the Pampered Chef Mix N Chop. Let me be honest here…. I do not like Pampered Chef. Not because they don’t have good products. I just loathe having to go to a party and being forced into buying something. But that’s just me. Having said that….. I did go to a party. And I did feel forced to buy something. But luckily it was the Mix N Chop! I love this thing. There is nothing that breaks up ground meat (especially ground sausage) better when cooking. And that’s especially helpful for a recipe like this when you need small chunks.
The next step is to dump in the Rotel and add the cream cheese. Stir until it is all melted and mixed together. Very simple.
Serve immediately or put in a crockpot on warm until ready to serve. This always goes fast so I usually buy enough for 2 batches. 🙂
Enjoy!
